I put the “groga” in grogart
I’m Georgia, the brains, hands, and neuroses behind Studio Grogart.
I have a degree in digital media and photography. Since getting my degree, I promptly did NOT use it and instead focused staying afloat in a corporate job. After roughly a decade moving up the ladder and building my career in corporate compliance the pandemic hit and it hit HARD.
In a weird twist of fate, being laid off from my job in 2020 worked out well for me. I was 8 months pregnant with my first child and due to the plague that encircled the globe, I was not wanting my newborn to be in daycare at the time. We were fortunate that my partner was able to support us financially while I stayed home with the kiddo.
Since 2020, I have been mostly a full time stay at home mom with the occasional odd jobs here and there to keep things interesting.
Now that both of my children are old enough to be in daycare/school, I have more time to devote to my creative endeavors and build my brand.
During a time of intense stress and pressure from my corporate job in 2018, I signed up for a weekly ceramics class at studio in Chicago. Through this class I was able to turn off my brain and create for the sake of creating. Since 2018, I have expanded my portfolio of techniques and really come into my own when it comes to my personal style.
In my free time, you can find me hanging with my family. My boys are the light of my life so when I’m not creating art, I’m making obstacle courses in my basement, designing art projects in my dining room or back yard, or making a mess in the kitchen with my eldest. Oh, and I’m almost always being followed by one of my cats when I’m at home.
As a multi-disciplinary artist, you can expect to see this studio grow and expand to include other projects.
